Design & Build

The Sapphire 2 applies Critical Mass Systems’ resonance-management philosophy through a simpler dual-zone, five-stage architecture. Its aluminium-alloy framework surrounds upper and lower constrained-layer damping sections engineered to manage mechanical energy beneath the supported component.

The upper zone combines three damping stages within a four-layer sandwich and uses a single rigid top-plate material. The lower zone adds two further stages within a two-layer constrained sandwich, creating a compact platform designed to balance structural support with controlled damping.

System Pairing

Sapphire 2 can be used independently as an isolation platform for power amplifiers and other audio components. It can also be installed as an interchangeable filter within compatible Critical Mass Systems equipment racks.

Its broad application makes it suitable for digital sources, preamplifiers, integrated amplifiers, power supplies, power conditioners and power amplifiers. Compatibility with the ULTRA Q and Sotto Voce provides a straightforward path to higher-level CMS isolation filters in the future.
