La Assoluta
The story began in 2003 with the TIDAL Sunray. At the time, it represented an extraordinary combination of technology, craftsmanship, and design. It was the world’s first loudspeaker featuring a 30 mm diamond tweeter, four symmetrically arranged bass drivers in a push-push configuration, and a centrally positioned high-midrange driver. Its crossover incorporated pure silver capacitors, supported by countless visible and hidden refinements. The goal was simple: to bring recorded music closer to the original performance. The Sunray became one of TIDAL’s defining creations, receiving worldwide acclaim, industry awards, and recognition from music lovers. Ten years later, the Sunray G2 introduced new cabinet materials, newly developed drivers, a completely revised crossover, and further structural improvements. Then came a simple question: What happens when everything starts again? That question became the foundation of La Assoluta. Designed as a clean-sheet project, La Assoluta brought together acoustics, mechanics, materials science, manufacturing, and aesthetics without compromise. Yet its sculptural, monolithic design remained unmistakably TIDAL. A symmetrical dual-driver architecture surrounds a centrally positioned tweeter. Developing the crossover to achieve seamless integration, coherence, and precise timing became one of the project’s greatest engineering challenges. At the heart of La Assoluta is the world’s first pure diamond diaphragm midrange-woofer. Not diamond-coated. Not composite. A genuine pure diamond diaphragm. Each loudspeaker contains 27 carats of diamond, with 54 carats in a stereo pair. Its importance, however, lies in performance rather than rarity. Developed in collaboration with Accuton, the driver achieves an exceptional 7 mm of linear excursion—approximately ten times that of previous comparable diamond diaphragms. This allows diamond technology to operate from approximately 150 Hz upward as a true midrange-woofer. Its extreme rigidity allows the diaphragm to behave close to an ideal piston, minimizing resonance and structural flex. Exceptional thermal conductivity also helps dissipate heat efficiently, reducing compression and maintaining performance at high output levels. The surrounding structure is engineered to the same standard. The driver basket is machined from solid aluminum, while the diamond drivers are mounted within an 18 kg stainless-steel front assembly designed for maximum rigidity and resonance control. The titanium-to-diamond voice-coil assembly minimizes stored energy and mechanical flex. Precisely aligned acoustic centres ensure temporal coherence throughout the frequency range.
