Design & Build
The Minissimo Forte evolves Crystal Cable’s distinctive Arabesque cabinet concept, originally developed to eliminate parallel surfaces, internal standing waves and common resonant dimensions.
Each enclosure is machined from a single block of polyurethane aluminium alloy, creating a rigid platform for the two Scan-Speak drive units. The curved cabinet geometry is complemented by Crystal Cable’s MAD™ Multiple Absorption and Dispersion system, incorporating internal diffusion structures, resonance-reducing material and carefully controlled vibration paths.
The dedicated aluminium stand is an integral part of the loudspeaker system. Its structure mechanically decouples the cabinet while positioning the tweeter at the correct seated listening height. The stand also houses the powered electronics for the semi-active crossover.
Crossover & Drivers
The Minissimo Forte uses a semi-active balanced second-order crossover rather than a conventional passive network. Powered buffer electronics are positioned between the crossover and drive units, eliminating the need for conventional crossover coils and reducing dynamic compression, non-linearity and signal loss.
High frequencies are reproduced by a 25 mm beryllium-dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet. A 150 mm Scan-Speak Revelator mid/bass driver uses a laminated paper cone with radial reinforcing pleats. The two drivers are individually matched to tight tolerances.
Internal connections use Crystal Cable Infinite Crystal Silver wiring, maintaining the company’s conductor technology inside the loudspeaker.
System Pairing
With 95 dB sensitivity and a nominal impedance of 16 ohms, the Minissimo Forte presents an unusually accommodating load to the partnering amplifier. It can be driven by lower-powered tube amplification while retaining the ability to work with powerful solid-state amplifiers.
The semi-active crossover requires AC power for each loudspeaker. A pair of Crystal Cable power cords is supplied with the system, while conventional speaker cables connect the external amplifier to the loudspeaker terminals.
The optional Scala is a precision-machined aluminium structure positioned on top of the cabinet. Its stepped three-dimensional shape controls the loudspeaker’s radiation pattern and can improve image focus and room integration.
